The Gur are tall and broadfaced, known as the Moonmaiden’s children and believers of He with the Third Eye. For all their savage appearance and unsettled lifestyle the people of all trade-faring nations on the Sword Coast hail them as a boon for travelling caravans and trade routes. Whethe they are actively offering their warriors as escorts or merely tagging along to trade their wares for civilized works and wares, Gurs increase the safety of any road they travel though they may be annoyingly persistent in selling their goods at best to outright charlatans and thieves at worst.
An agreement with a Gur is a powerful contract to which the Gur ties his personal honor. Travelers have told stories of Gur hired who have died and their relatives come forward to complete the job for the honor of the fallen. Darker stories also circulate regarding Gur cheated by civilized liars unwise to think that an honest Gur is easy to fool and incapable of exacting a terrible, bloody revenge.
Of all the civilized races, the Gur have survived living in the notorious High Moor and dangerous Eastern plains of the Western Heartlands when other humanoid races have flourished and failed. Some people speculate that it is not a coincidence that Gurs have counted many gifted oracles amongst their people throughout their history with rich traditions of soothsaying and divining rituals.
